“Looking for me?” Awwwwwww yeah, Robocop was “not a guy, he’s a machine!” Remember how he used to take those criminals to school….”don’t move creep!” Quick, do you remember the name of the cop who became Robocop? (Answer is at the bottom of this blog)
And for those of you who remember the days of this 1987 classic, here is the original trailer of Robocop for your enjoyment.
A former Christian artist, Katy Perry rebranded herself as a larger-than-life pop star and rose to prominence during the summer of 2008. Before she topped the charts with songs like “I Kissed a Girl” and “California Gurls,” though, she spent the better part of a decade recording music under a different name. Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson (or Katy Hudson, as she billed herself on her 2001 gospel album) was born on October 25, 1984, in Santa Barbara, CA. Raised in a religious household as the daughter of two pastors, she was forbidden to listen to secular bands as a child, although a childhood slumber party introduced her to the music of Alanis Morissette and Freddie Mercury. Religious music remained at the forefront, however, and Katy released a self-titled Christian album in 2001 under her original name. She would later abandon the genre (and her given surname) in favor of a pop career.
At age 17, she began working with hitmaker Glen Ballard, who had produced and co-written Alanis Morissette’s chart-topping Jagged Little Pill in 1995. Several years later, she teamed up with the Matrix, a Grammy-nominated production/songwriting team whose résumé included collaborations with Avril Lavigne, Shakira, and Korn. Tired of producing music for other artists, the Matrix had plans to record an album of their own, with Perry serving as one of the group’s two singers. The project was ultimately shelved, but not before Perry appeared in a 2004 write-up by Blender magazine, who hailed her as “the Next Big Thing!”

Trying to explain what Burning Man is to someone who has never been to the event is a bit like trying to explain what a particular color looks like to someone who is blind.
Burning Man is a week-long event that inspires people from all over the world to come and celebrate creativity and self-expression. The Desert floor or “playa” is converted into a city of sorts with a theme. The annual event began as a bonfire ritual on the summer solstice in 1986 when Larry Harvey, Jerry James, and a few friends met on Baker Beach in San Francisco and burned a 9-foot (2.7-meter) wooden man as well as a smaller wooden dog. Harvey has described his inspiration for burning these effigy figures as a spontaneous act of radical self-expression.
“While some artists have never questioned the current marginal and passive status of art and are content to work within the reservation called the ‘art world,’ others have made conscious attempts over the last decade to combat the relentless commodification of their products and to reenter the ‘outside world.’ In the late ’60s, after a period in which most avant-garde art was drastically divorced from social subjects or effects, many artists became disgusted with the star system and the narrowness of formal ‘movements.’ They began to ask themselves larger questions. When they looked up from their canvas and steel, they saw politics, nature, history and myth out there.”
Lucy Lippard, Overlay (1983)
Burning Man enlightens the mind, imagination, and fashion sense. In the middle of the hot desert, in a city self created, one can be anything they imagine. We have plenty of accessories and outfits that could suit anyone this year at Burning Man.
Alice In Wonderland is unique among Disney animated films in that it is based on three different books: Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland, Charles Dodgson’s Through The Looking Glass, and Timothy Leary’s, Your Brain Is God. Scenes, ideas, and philosophies from the three books are intermixed throughout the film, making it quite the mind trip.
Great Group costume idea; and this one would definitely go in out Top 10..
